Jenimae Almquist's passion for law arose as part of a specialized high school program dedicated to law and government in Dallas, Texas. As a teenager, she won numerous city and state mock trial competitions, and then financed her college education by working as a law clerk in several law firms. Her tenure with plaintiffs' and defense firms alike strengthened her resolve to work on behalf of critically injured individuals.
After attending Bryn Mawr College, Ms. Almquist operated in a completely bilingual environment as an adjunct to the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, where she investigated prison conditions and assured compliance with court orders in complex institutional reform litigation. Ms. Almquist has worked on behalf of plaintiffs since she returned to Philadelphia permanently in 1995. Starting as a legal secretary and then a paralegal, she participated in a host of major trials and multi-million dollar mediations alongside senior attorneys who recognized her talent as a litigator and urged her to return to law school.
While attending the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, Ms. Almquist received the Barrister Award for excellence in trial advocacy as well as multiple transcript distinctions for outstanding writing, oral advocacy, and class performance. Upon graduation, she was awarded the West Publishing Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award.
By virtue of her prior experience, public service, and ability to handle multi-party lawsuits, she was honored as one of forty Pennsylvania "Lawyers on the Fast Track" only a few months after admission to the bar. She immediately launched into practice for a prominent Philadelphia personal injury firm where she represented victims of catastrophic accidents, explosions, medical malpractice, and pharmaceutical products liability. Ms. Almquist joined Raynes McCarty in 2006 to continue the tradition of assisting clients in complex litigation, especially burn victims and those who have been harmed by defective products. She is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Ms. Almquist also dedicates significant time to bar service and community activities. She is the Secretary of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania, a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors, and serves on the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee on Women in the Profession. She regularly conducts free seminars in Spanish regarding personal injury for members of the Philadelphia Hispanic community, and has instructed local middle school students in mock trial as part of their civics curriculum.
