James F. Mundy joined Raynes McCarty in 1972, after two years
in the firm of renowned trial lawyer B. Nathaniel Richter.
Since then, he has helped clients in need win several of the
largest catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases in the
region’s history. A goal for him in every case is to
ensure that the same accident does not happen again, through
changed procedures, safer product design, or staff re-training.
His skill as a trial attorney has earned him selection as
a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Lawyers and as
a Fellow for both the International Academy of Trial Lawyers
and the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has received
the highest rating for legal ability and ethics in Martindale-Hubbell.
The Pennsylvania Report has identified him as one of
the 50 most influential people in state public affairs.
Mr. Mundy’s contributions to the legal profession have
not been limited to the courtroom. He has been president of
the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers
Association, and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
Under then-Governor Robert Casey, Mr. Mundy was asked to serve
as chair of the Appellate Court Nominating Commission and
as a member of the Philadelphia Trial Court Nominating Commission.
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania selected Mr. Mundy to serve
on the Lawyers Disciplinary Board, the Mandatory Continuing
Legal Education Board, and the Interest on Lawyer’s
Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Board. He has both written and lectured
extensively on litigation issues.
Mr. Mundy has worked tirelessly on the legislative front,
advocating for the rights of the injured. He is credited with
the passage of two important pieces of legislation, the repeal
of the no-fault insurance act and a minor’s tolling
statue which preserves a child’s right to redress for
personal injuries. His outstanding service earned him the
prestigious Justice Michael A. Musmanno Memorial Award from
the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
